Shell We Paint
All Ages
A hands-on discovery of different animal shells that can be found along Nova Scotia's coast. Each participant gets to paint an oyster shell that they can take home!
Story Time with sammy the squid
Ages 3-8
Perfect for the little guppies, this program begins with an interactive story telling of a fan favourite, "The Pout-Pout Fish". Participants will then get on their feet and play a game of "Sammy Says"!
Whats in the Harbour?
Ages 6+
What even is in our harbour? Learn what kinds of creatures live in the depths of the Halifax Harbour and what makes them a happy home. Engage in a hands-on activity about different habitats and how they can impact what animals live there. You’ll also learn about reef balls and how they are integral to our marine ecosystems!
Just Squidding!
Ages 6+
We’re not even squidding, those willing to try will get to touch the insides of a squid in this educational dissection! If we discover a full ink sac, the participants will get to test out the squid pen and write their monogram!
Coastal Geology Rocks!
Ages 10+
Take a dive into the geology of coastal Nova Scotia! Explore our specimens hands-on to discover what makes rocks in Halifax different from rocks at Peggy's Cove, and how they came to be!
How do I Float?
Ages 14+
Ever wonder how sharks, whales, sea turtles and fish are able to navigate their three dimensional world? Discover how these species have adapted to move underwater - spoiler alert, they all have their own special method! You'll also learn about the different species of sharks, whales, and sea turtles in Nova Scotia.
Birthday Parties
The best way to celebrate a birthday! The Centre is yours for 2 hours. Party starts with a one hour program - 30 minutes of guided touch tank exploration and 30 mins for one of our themed programs above.
You then get the Centre for one more hour to have your cake, presents and keep exploring!
